Friday, October 2, 2026
September 16, 2026 Sheriff Carter Weaver and staff were honored to escort South Carolina Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver on her visit to Waccamaw Elementary School today. During an assembly, Superintendent Weaver awarded the school membership into the brand new “Superintendent’s 75% Club” for reaching 85% proficiency in reading and 75% proficiency in math. The Superintendent lauded the school district and Sheriff’s Office for providing exemplary safety to students throughout the county, noting that safe schools and successful schools go hand in hand. Sheriff Weaver spoke about the importance of School Resource Officers, not only in times of danger, but as a friendly face behind the badge, giving students a trusted adult to go to if something is wrong.
After the assembly, Superintendent Weaver, Sheriff Weaver, and the deputies had a fantastic time reading to students.
