OVER 100 DOGS RESCUED - HOMEOWNERS ARRESTED

(July 10, 2026) The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the animal cruelty case at 21 Duck Pond Place in Wedgefield.
Yesterday, 107 dogs and 11 cats were safely removed from the property and are now receiving care through Animal Control and partnering animal welfare organizations. Investigators have also recovered the remains of over 125 deceased dogs from the residence.
The investigation was sparked by the abandonment of over 50 dogs in various locations throughout the county over the last two weeks. Ralph Moody was developed as a suspect in those crimes.
At this time, Moody and his wife, Kimberly Moody, have been charged with Conspiracy, Ill Treatment of Animals, Animal Cruelty and Improper Burial of Animals. A preliminary bond hearing is scheduled for this afternoon at 3 pm at 333 Cleland Street. As investigators continue processing evidence, conducting forensic examinations, and reviewing the facts of the case, additional criminal charges are anticipated.
